02.16.2004 - Missing Q-Tip

earThis morning while I was getting ready I used some Q-Tips. The left ear was ok. I tried the right ear and noticed that the cotton part wasn't there. I started to panic and try to pry what I thought was the cotton out of my ear. After about 5 minutes of unsuccessful attempts I decided to call a physician. I spoke to a nurse and told her that I thought I had the end of a Q-Tip stuck in my ear. She said that the doctor would be in at 1:00 PM. I told her that it wasn't that big of a deal and that a nurse could do it. She told me to come in so she could look at it.

So I went into the office and she examined my ear. She said that my ear was clear. I looked at her and told her that it couldn't be. She checked it again but still nothing. She had the other nurse come by and look. Still nothing. They were looking at me like I was crazy. I had this confused look on my face. They were laughing to themselves. It made me doubt whether there was cotton on the end in the first place. So I asked "If there was a piece of cotton in my ear. It would affect my hearing, right?" They agreed and said that if was lodged further down that I might be able to feel it. I tried to feel for it but couldn't tell. I asked the nurse to feel it and still nothing. I asked "So, now what do I do?" She said that I could take an x-ray. I replied "I don't want to spend all of that time if there isn't anything in there." She said that if my ear wasn't bothering me and my hearing was fine then maybe I didn't have anything in it. I can't tell anymore, since I scratched up the inside of my ear.

I could say Ryan and Shazy, I know how it feels to have a piece of cotton stuck in your ear. But do I?
