08.26.2002 - I Hung Out with Koufax's Parents

I went over to the Hard Hat Cafe in Toledo to check out the Hey Mercedes/Koufax show. That place was so weird. It reminded me of a big garage and/or prison. When I walked in the door people I would expect to see in Taylor were working the tickets. I overheard them being confused about what kind of show was going on and lamenting why it couldn't be Alice Cooper instead. I found a table and sat down when I got into the main bar/concert area. About 10 mintues later an older couple came by and asked if they could have the extra chairs at my table because the people they were sitting with were a table in front of me. I told them yeah and said I could move back if they needed more room. The woman proceeds to tell me that their son does front vocals for Koufax. So I asked them if they go to the shows often and they said only when they are in town. The Ghost went on and played their set. The were alright, they just had this Vh-1 Storytellers approach to their music. Pretty much every song had a story. It got kind ridiculous after awhile. Koufax went on after them. It was pretty entertaining to see Mrs. Koufax dancing and singing to her son's music. Some of Koufax's Toledo friends came over and stole my new friends away from me. So I went up when Hey Mercedes started and bid my new friends farewell.
