05.26.2002 - Metal Lined Rubber Hose in the Road + My Car = Beat and Busted
I attempted to drive to the DEMF on Sunday afternoon before heading up to Ryan's. After I said "FO SHO" to the FO SHO Grinch I got in the left
lane. One exit later, I see the van in front of me hit this hose that I originally thought was a shredded tire. The van was alright after hitting it.
I wasn't so lucky. I hit the thing head on with no way out. Soon after, I heard this noise and thought I had a flat tire. I pulled onto the shoulder
a few miles later and got out of my car to inspect. My face almost fell off. My bumper was completely jacked. The bottom part of my car was scraping the
road and there was a dent/paint scrape on my passenger door. I never hated a hose so much. I called the insurance company and told them what happened.
I scraped the ground all the way home and had it towed to the shop. The worst thing about the towing was the neighbourhood kids were coming to my
driveway to watch the tow truck spectacle.
The damage from that garbage hose is estimated around $1600. I cannot drive my car for a week. Thanks to Chris I don't
have to rent a car for the work commute [since it ain't covered under my insurance].
P.S. I jinxed myself so hard because we talked about Chris' bumper issue the night before at the Full Moon. By the way, I hate Michigan roads more than I ever will in my history right now.
